Peanut Edjumacation

Mike has been so great with my need to learn about caring for Peanut. We have signed up for 2 classes at other places (pregnancy nutrition and how prepare your dogs for the baby), plus 6 childbirth classes at our hospital (breastfeeding, labor and delivery, car seat safety, relaxation for labor, newborn car and newborn massage)! I figured since the hospital offers them for free when you deliver there that we may as well learn as much as we can.

Five of them are this month, so it's been a lot of hours learning about labor, delivery, newborn care, and car seats. This weekend we have the breastfeeding class and next month is newborn massage. I hope we can remember it all (or at least the important stuff) when the big day gets here!

We are still working on the nursery. I was going to incorporate the lime green from my office (which will be Peanut's room), but Mike wasn't crazy about it. I thought if we painted over some of it that it would work, but we weren't sold on the sample paint area we did. So we threw it all out the window and started over. I guess we'll be doing light blue, blue and brown (I know, very original for a boy). The funny thing is, I take pride in the fact that my house has bold colors, but now without the lime, most of the rooms are shades of blue and we also have brown/tan. So far, even though I've been spending hours in there, I only have the closet cleaned out. We still need to move my desk and futon out and then paint. We are going to do the stripes again, even though we said we would never do it again because it's so hard!

Peanut – a little of mommy and daddy

We had another ultrasound on July 21st (30 weeks). We got to take another gander at Peanut in 3-D! He was a little harder to see, but it seems like he has daddy's nose and my full lips! He even stuck his tongue out at as during the scan. We got some of it on video, but he isn't moving much so if I don't get a better one in a few weeks, I will try and post it.

I love this one! At first glance it's hard to tell what's what, so his hand is on the left up by his mouth and nose. He's kind of looking towards the left. So you should be able to see his eyes, nose and a bit of his mouth.

This one you can see Mike's nose and my lips! How funny :)

So far, they think Peanut weighs 3 lbs, 8 oz.

He still has no first name. He really may end up being Peanut David Shumaker :) We'll address the names again shortly. I really think I might end up calling him that though, it's been his name since his first ultrasound at 8 weeks!

27 week belly

With every new picture and each new week, I can't believe how much my belly is growing! This week is about the time that Peanut started doing more than just a cute little kick. He's swimming or something! It feels really weird and he always does it right as I'm going to sleep. It feels so strange it kind of scares me and I jump and jerk back! It's hard to go to sleep if you are moving all around :)

Sometimes I can see my stomach move when he does that. It's really crazy! I always email Mike when he does it, but so far Mike hasn't been able to see it. I'm sure there will be more opportunities!

Fun in the Sun! – 27 week belly

It had been hot so Jenny and I had been day dreaming of time at the pool. It was nice because for once, the water wasn't freezing! It felt so good to lay out and go swimming. I was excited to spend girl time with Jen, but Mike really wanted to come too. At first, I told him he wasn't allowed to hang out with us, but once we got there we allowed him to hang out :)

I know I'm pretty pale, but to my defense, Jenny had also been in Florida for vacation the week before. And hey, I work full time and it's been raining lots on the weekend so I don't get out much :)

I was hoping you could see her belly too, but mine is really apparent and hers is hiding behind her suit.

Mike has trimmed down a bit as I have grown. It's amazing how much smaller my belly looks with clothes over it, it's pretty big with nothing covering it. I wasn't shy in my regular bikini, hopefully it didn't bother anybody.
